Dau Go Island | Wooden Stake Island | Halong Bay | Northeast Vietnam

Located on the southwest side of Halong Bay, Dau Go Island or Driftwood Island lies just 4km from the wharf. It has the form of a throne embracing in its arms a lagoon of blue sea when seen from the distance.

The range of islands has 3 wide grottoes that may be classified among the most beautiful in Halong Bay. They are the Thien Cung, Thien Long and Dau Go grottoes. The zone of Ba Hang, the residence of the fishing people of Halong, is situated on the west side of the island. The mountain island walls in this area stretch vertically out of the water among exquisite scenery. On the islands there are many species of animals: reptiles, birds, and in particular, yellow-haired monkeys.

On sunny days they descend to the base of the island to look for food. Dau Go Island is also known for its large and colorful cave which has many stalactites and stalagmites, some of them more than 20 meters high.
