Sukhothai art from the late 4th century to the 16th century A.D. Prince Damrong surmised on his visit to the chedi in 1921 that this monument was build to commemorate King Ramkhamhaeng’s over Khun Sam Chon, the ruler of Muang Chot in the fight on an elephant as fold in the first Sukhothai inscription stone.
