King Ramkhamhaeng Monument | Sukhothai Historical Park

King Ramkhamhaeng Monument is located on the north of Wat Mahathat, Sukhothai Province. The bronze statue of King Ramkhamhaeng sits on a throne named Phra Thaen Manangkhasila Asana with a base relief recording his life.

One of his major achievements was the compilation of a system of writing and created a new Thai alphabet which he adapted from the various forms of Khmer script that were previously used in Siam.
