Khao Chi Chan | Buddha Mountain | World’s largest carved Buddha image

Khao Chi Chan, located near Wat Yannasangwararam and Wihan Sian, features a sculptural image erected to honor His Majesty King Bhumibol on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his enthronement in 1996.

This Buddha image in the “maravijaya” position is 130 meters high and 70 meters wide carved by laser placed on Chi Chan Mountain, marked it the biggest Carved Buddha image in the world.

The surroundings are a wide variety of flowering plants and a number of pavilions for meditation and rest. Directly in front of the cliff face are shrines, elaborate gardens, and a number of terraced pools stocked with lotus flowers. Inside the Buddha image, relics of the Buddha are enshrined.
