Monument No.4 | Mueang Sing Historical Park | Kanchanaburi

Monument No.4 is composed with 4 rectangular chambers, the size of each chamber is equal, and the chambers are separated by a space of 50 cm. The building is made of laterite blocks. The floor is made of compressed sand gravel with some traces of laterite blocks. During the excavation, archaeologists found nails and tiles fragments as well as a statue stand that you can see imprisoned in a tree roots.

It is believed that this monument was used as:

– Either a residence for the monks, for meditation
– Either represent the 4 Keepers of the world
– Either the monument where treasures were kept: treasures such as the ones given by King Jayavarman VII as it is mentioned by the stone inscription found in Cambodia (golden candle stands, golden vases, golden trays, precious cloth to dress the statues but also herbs or plants that were valuable at that time).
