Monument No.3 | Mueang Sing Historical Park | Kanchanaburi

Monument number 3 is a small monument made of brick and laterite. The base made from bricks was made during the Dhavaravati period (between the 6th and 11th century A.D.). The base supported a Stupa. The khmer kept the brick base and added laterite blocks in a Prang architectural style.

This monument was probably used as a ‘Lak Muang’. A Lak Muang is a monument where the first pillar during the construction of a new city was kept. It is also the place where to holy spirits live. During the excavation many small Buddha images were found.

At the four angles of the monument you can notice white stones. In Buddhism stones are placed only near important places. This monument is probably the most important monument in Muang Sing Historical Park.
