Sulamani | Buddhist Temple | Minnanthu Village | Old Bagan | Myanmar | Burma

The Sulamini Temple is located in the village of Minnanthu, southwest of Bagan. It was bulit in 1174 by King Narapatishithu and is a good example of a sophisticated temple design, similar to Htilominlo and Gawdawpalin.

The temple is situated just beyond the Dhammayangyi Temple. This temple was known as “crowing jewel” and it stands beyond Dhammayangyi Pagoda. In its day the temple was known for its stunning frescoes, but today only a few traces of these artworks can be seen.

Sulamani Temple was restored after the 1975 earthquake, and utilises brick and stone, with frescoes in the interior of the temple, and was rebuilt in 1994.
