K2 is located in the Baltistan region of Gilgit–Baltistan, Pakistan in the northwestern Karakoram Range, and the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County of Xinjiang, China. It is the second highest peak in the world, also known as Chhogori which means Great Mountain or Mount Godwin-Austen, with an elevation of 8,611 m.
